What I Want the World to Know About Damon Dunn by Anabel

Damon is an amazing individual who cares about the good of the community and the people. His involvement with the East Palo Alto Stanford Summer Academy (EPASSA) as counselor and then as Executive Program Director is a true reflection of his dedication and passion for working with young people and making a difference in the lives of those he meets. He is an inspiration, a role model, a mentor and a friend. I appreciate his enthusiasm and energy and most importantly the love he has for making a difference in our community. He made the EPASSA program a true success.
As a 7th and 8th grader, Damon was someone that I aspired to be like. Learning about his background and knowing he had overcome so many obstacles, including climbing out of poverty, gave me strength and courage to continue to work hard in school to make something not only for myself, but for my family, for my church, for my community. He is a testament that if you work hard and give it all you’ve got, you can become someone great. Following in his footsteps, I applied to Stanford University, was accepted, and graduated.
Damon was not only a mentor and a friend in the EPASSA program, but we have kept in touch over the years. He has supported me throughout my time in high school and at Stanford. Damon has contributed financially towards my education, and has provided guidance for the course of my education. He loves to give and never expects anything in return. He has been a real blessing for me, my family and my life.
